BaoZhong, also known as Pouchong, treads the line between green tea and oolong tea. It holds the distinction of being the lightest, least oxidized oolong in our collection at 10% fermentation. This tea is perfect for tea lovers that are looking to enjoy something similar to a fine, high elevation whole-leaf green tea with a rounder, less sharp palate. Following the traditional methods, our BaoZhong is prepared twisted, not rolled.
The newest harvest of BaoZhong is more floral, yet still smooth and sweet-tempered. Notes recall gardenia and sweet pea. The finish is crisp and clean. We've found that under ideal conditions our 2016 BaoZhong remains strong and flavorful for up to four infusions. Steep using water between 80C and 82C, using 100ml per 4g. Brew time should last between sixty to ninety seconds. Rinsing the leaf is highly recommended as this helps the first infusion brew faster. Rinsing also maximizes re-steep potential.
